Immediately following the passage of a voter referendum in 1999, construction began on an addition to the Pittsville School. This addition included plans for an auditorium.
The non-profit organization, Pittsville Area Foundation for the Arts, (PAFA), was incorporated in May of 2000. The purpose of the foundation is to schedule, host and coordinate various events to be held in the new auditorium.
An open house for the state-of-the art facility was held on November 15, 2000. PAFA's first major project was the purchase of a baby grand piano which was dedicated on October 12, 2002.
Community volunteers continue to combine efforts to bring performing art venues to the Pittsville School Auditorium. In addition, PAFA is pleased to award an annual scholarship to a qualified senior at Pittsville High School and contributes to many community projects. |
